Your settings

Settings holds your own preferences and your team's set-up. To reach it, open the menu at the right of the header and select Settings.

The page has two sections. User settings is yours alone, and applies wherever you sign in; this page is a reference to what it holds. Team settings covers the teams you belong to and the people in them — see Manage your team.

Your settings follow your account, not the team you are working in. Changing one takes effect straight away, across the app.

General

A read-only table of Setting and Value rows, listing what is turned on for your account. There is nothing to change here — it is a record of what you have, useful when you are checking whether a part of the app is available to you. The entries Tiro Pro keeps for its own bookkeeping are left out of it.

Preferences

Toggles that change how the app behaves for you.

Toggle What it does
Advanced mode Reveals the app's advanced sections. See Where advanced mode shows up.
Enter sends the message In a discussion, makes Enter send and Shift+Enter start a new line. On to begin with. When off, Enter starts a new line and Cmd + Enter (Ctrl + Enter on Windows and Linux) sends. See Send a message.
Events feed Shows the Events control in the header.
Enable transfer of documents Shows Transfer Document among the actions on the documents table's floating bar, alongside the other actions that apply to a whole selection.
Enable tags Turns on tags: the Tags control on the Documents page, Tags columns and tag filters in tables, and a Tags box when you add documents. Off to begin with. Turning it off hides tags without removing any, and turning it back on brings them back as you left them. See Manage tags.
Enable document navigator Shows the Document navigator control on the Documents page and among the actions on the documents table's floating bar. Off to begin with. See Explore documents with the navigator.

Where advanced mode shows up

Advanced mode does not add a section of its own. It unlocks the more technical parts of pages you already use, each of which then decides for itself what to show:

  • the upload window offers a Show advanced tick box — see Upload documents;
  • a document's details panel offers a Show advanced toggle — see View a document's details;
  • the Events feed, Enable transfer of documents, Enable tags, and Enable document navigator toggles appear here in Preferences, and each of them stays off whenever advanced mode is off.

Document action bar

A toggle decides whether the New document control appears in the action bar beneath the header. Turn it off and it stops taking up room; turn it back on and it returns. For what it opens, see Around the app.

Help text

Help text appears in place throughout the app, and each piece can be dismissed once you no longer need it.

Reset all brings all of it back. The button is always in this block, and becomes available once you have dismissed at least one piece of help. Select it and every dismissed tip shows again. See Around the app.
